Which NFL Teams have a Bye Week 8? Everyone who's out this week
The NFL 's Week 8 schedule will be missing four teams this weekend, with the latest round of bye weeks arriving at a potentially decisive stage of the 2026 regular season.
While 28 teams prepare for another round of games, the San Francisco 49ers , New York Giants , Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints will have an opportunity to regroup before returning to action in Week 9.
The break comes at an interesting moment for all four franchises, particularly San Francisco , which has established itself as one of the NFC's leading contenders after winning six of its opening seven games.
New York is also in a promising position following a 4-2-1 start, while Houston and New Orleans face considerably greater pressure after struggling to build momentum through the opening weeks.
With the playoff race beginning to develop across both conferences, the scheduled rest period offers each organization an opportunity to address injuries, review performances and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Which NFL teams have a bye in Week 8 of the 2026 season?
Four teams won't play during Week 8, with their next regular season appearances scheduled for Week 9.
The 49ers enter their bye in the strongest position, having emerged as an early contender for one of the NFC's leading playoff seeds. Their impressive record gives them a valuable cushion heading into the next phase of the season.
The Giants have also exceeded expectations through seven games, although their position in the NFC East leaves little room for complacency as the divisional race develops.
Houston and New Orleans , meanwhile, will view the break as an opportunity to reset after disappointing starts. Both teams have managed just two victories, leaving them needing a substantial improvement to challenge for postseason qualification.
Every NFL team receives one bye during the 18-week regular season, creating a scheduled recovery period before the final stretch of the campaign.
