Brittany Mahomes questioned the officials after a disputed penalty changed the outcome of Kansas City’s loss.
The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their second consecutive road loss on Sunday, falling 28-24 to their divisional rivals, the Denver Broncos . However, the game was surrounded by controversy in the final moments.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs let an 11-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter. Kansas City entered the final period with a 24-13 advantage, but the Broncos responded with 15 points in the closing minutes to complete a spectacular comeback and secure the victory.
The Chiefs still had one final opportunity to turn the game around. Facing fourth-and-goal from Denver’s 1-yard line, Mahomes connected with Rashee Rice on a play that appeared to become the game-winning touchdown. However, the score was overturned after officials called a false start on right tackle Jaylon Moore .
The penalty moved Kansas City back to Denver’s 6-yard line , and on the following play, Mahomes was sacked, ending the Chiefs’ comeback attempt.
The controversial decision sparked a furious reaction from Brittany Mahomes , who did not hesitate to express her frustration on social media.
“You can’t tell me you call that on a game winning TD, oh wait yeah I can cause it’s us. That was the weakest call I have ever seen, you can’t tell me otherwise,” she wrote in an Instagram story.
Brittany Mahomes, who has attended several Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium this season, made her frustration with the officiating clear and questioned the officials’ decision, believing the penalty hurt Kansas City at a crucial moment.
Following the loss, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs fell to a 5-2 record after dropping two straight games. Kansas City slipped to second place in the AFC West , while the Broncos, now 6-2, took over the division lead thanks to four consecutive victories.
The Chiefs will have a chance to get back in the win column on November 8 , when they return home to host the New York Jets at Arrowhead Stadium , looking to avoid a third straight defeat.
