Transforming one of New York City 's most famous sporting arenas into an enchanted forest was never going to be straightforward, even with the considerable financial resources available to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce .

The couple married at Madison Square Garden on July 3, but previously undisclosed details have revealed how their original wedding plans underwent significant changes before the ceremony.

According to the Daily Mail, Swift envisioned an elaborate woodland setting complete with illuminated trees, a two-story carousel and a specially constructed pond beneath the altar.

However, the ambitious designs presented substantial logistical challenges, forcing organizers to abandon some of the most extravagant features.

"When you're talking about a billionaire in a billionaire wedding, you would think that anything you want, they can make it happen," a source told the publication. "And there were a lot of things that they actually had to cut back."

The proposed carousel was intended to provide a spectacular centerpiece for the reception, complementing the magical atmosphere Swift wanted to create, however, its estimated cost quickly became a problem, with the two-story attraction reportedly priced at approximately $7 million.

Reducing the installation to a single level would still have cost around $3.5 million, whilst transporting and assembling such a substantial structure inside Madison Square Garden also presented practical difficulties.

"That was a great thing to scrap because it's hard to get something in like that [to the venue]," wedding planner Tara Guerard said, supporting the decision to abandon the idea, although she was not involved in the celebration.

Instead, the couple reportedly opted for a large tent featuring carnival-style entertainment, including mini-golf and cornhole.

Safety concerns changed Taylor Swift's wedding ceremony

Another ambitious proposal involved constructing an artificial pond directly beneath the altar where Swift and Kelce would exchange their vows as the concept would have added a dramatic visual feature to the indoor woodland setting.

But its installation raised concerns about safety and engineering as managing a substantial volume of water inside the arena also created challenges involving construction, drainage and the protection of the venue.

"The edges weren't tall enough and it would be really easy to fall over," a source added to the Daily Mail as the pond was ultimately eliminated, although the wider forest-inspired theme remained central to the finished celebration.

Despite those compromises, the ceremony remained an extraordinary undertaking, with approximately 1000 guests attending the July 3 celebration as Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, while the guest list included dozens of some of the most famous names around the world.
