Patrick Mahomes loses his cool with struggling Chiefs WR in heated on-field moment

At 5-0 heading into a road game against the Seattle Seahawks , with many injuries affecting the team, the Kansas City Chiefs weren't really expected to win on Sunday Night Football . But the way in which they lost, 20-3 , has sparked a lot of concern.

The Chiefs had already dealt with close calls from the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders . Against Seattle, though, they simply couldn't hang, particularly on offense . Standout running back Kenneth Walker III got bottled up by his former team, forcing quarterback Patrick Mahomes to carry the load.

Due to the shortage of weapons at his disposal, plus his ideal offensive line not in place, Mahomes struggled mightily against Seattle . He completed 19-of-33 passes for just 165 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception . He also fumbled one and had a fumbled exchange with his center, although both were recovered by Mahomes himself.

The struggles seemed to get to Mahomes, leading to one play in particular where he uncharacteristically showed his frustration with wide receiver Xavier Worthy on the field . Mahomes had thrown a beautiful pinpoint pass while scrambling to his right, only for Worthy to let the ball clang off his hands for a drop.

That's the type of play the Chiefs need Worthy to make on a consistent basis. Worthy was drafted in the first round in 2024 , but is yet to make a truly major impact for Kansas City. He scored nine touchdowns as a rookie, then took a big step back in 2025 , while also dealing with injuries.

With Rashee Rice out due to injury, this was another opportunity for Worthy to assert himself as the Chiefs' No. 1 wideout for Mahomes, but he was only able to gain 11 yards on six targets against Seattle . He's been held to 25 receiving yards or less in four of six games this season .
