P atrick Mahomes has enjoyed plenty of memorable victories during his career, but one of his earliest investments away from football also proved successful as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback secured an impressive return on his first home after selling the property. The mansion sold for an asking price of $2.9 million despite the fact that Mahomes originally purchased the Kansas City residence for $1.9 million in February 2019, shortly after collecting the NFL MVP award following his breakout 2018 season.

Four years later, the property attracted a buyer in less than two weeks after hitting the market. Located at 1257 W. 57th St. in the prestigious Sunset Hill neighborhood, the ranch-style property was built in 1953 and occupied approximately 1.4 acres. It represented an important milestone for Mahomes and his then-girlfriend Brittany Matthews , who would later become his wife as the couple invested nearly $400,000 renovating the residence, transforming it into a luxurious family home as he established himself among the NFL elite. He previously described it as the first house either of them had owned, making the purchase particularly significant whilst the finished property featured an open-plan layout and several personalized additions, including a dedicated sneaker room reportedly capable of holding approximately 180 pairs. Outside, residents could enjoy a heated swimming pool, hot tub and putting green and a five-car garage provided additional space for the quarterback's vehicles, while the extensive grounds offered considerably more privacy than a typical residential property. However, as Mahomes ' career and family grew, the original home eventually became too small for their changing lifestyle.

In June 2023, Mahomes and Matthews decided to put the property on the market for $2.9 million whilst Cami Jones of ReeceNichols handled the listing, and the property was quickly snapped up. A trust connected to a local businessman named David "Rall" Bradley III purchased the residence in less than two weeks – happy to pay the asking price that represented a $1 million increase on the quarterback's original purchase price, highlighting the property's appreciation during his time there. Mahomes had already begun expanding his real estate portfolio before broadening beyond Kansas City and in March 2020, he purchased a $3.37 million property in Westlake, Texas , before his family eventually moved into a significantly larger estate in Cass County, Missouri , in 2023. Away from real estate, Mahomes faces a considerably more difficult challenge as Kansas City attempts to recover from consecutive defeats against the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos . Injuries to Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton have contributed to the team's offensive problems and ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that the Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers are both interested in the Indianapolis Colts receiver Josh Downs . The 24-year-old has reportedly requested a trade following Indianapolis ' decisions to move Quenton Nelson to Seattle and DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers . Downs has recorded 30 receptions for 330 yards and one touchdown this season, having surpassed 500 receiving yards in each of his first three NFL campaigns, and two of those seasons produced more than 700 yards. Indianapolis is reportedly seeking a third-round pick, although ESPN's Adam Schefter believes that valuation could fall to a fourth-round selection as the November 10 trade deadline approaches.
