The Kansas City Chiefs already appear to have a clear priority ahead of the NFL trade deadline , and that need could lead them to explore talks with teams such as the Buffalo Bills , Indianapolis Colts , and Jacksonville Jaguars .

According to ESPN’s well-known reporter Adam Schefter , Kansas City has been making calls in search of a wide receiver who can elevate their offense before the deadline closes on November 10 .

“They have been calling around and I don’t think it would be a surprise to see them continue to attempt to add a wide receiver before the trade deadline two weeks from tomorrow,” Schefter said of the Chiefs on The Pat McAfee Show .

Chiefs need urgent help at wide receiver

The situation at the receiver position has become one of Kansas City’s biggest concerns.

Rashee Rice remains out with an injury, whil e Xavier Worthy has not lived up to the expectations that accompanied his arrival. In addition, the Chiefs lost Tyquan Thornton to a significant leg injury that could keep him sidelined until the final weeks of the season.

Kansas City has also reportedly explored the possibility of reuniting with free-agent receiver Tyreek Hill , one of the franchise’s standout players in recent years. However, uncertainty remains about when he will be fully ready to return after the serious knee injury he suffered last season and what version of himself he will show when he gets back on the field.

Given that outlook, the Chiefs appear inclined to pursue a solution via trade, even if they eventually bring Hill back.

Three receivers who could interest Kansas City

Among the names that have emerged as possible targets for the Chiefs are Joshua Palmer of the Buffalo Bills, Keenan Allen of the Indianapolis Colts, and Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bills could consider moving the veteran to gain some value before his contract expires, though it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to strengthen a direct AFC rival like Kansas City.

Meanwhile, the Colts could begin selling off pieces if their situation does not improve before the deadline. In that scenario, Keenan Allen emerges as a possible trade candidate, especially since he is on a one-year deal.

The most intriguing target, however, would be Brian Thomas Jr. The young Jacksonville receiver combines talent and upside, and he is coming off a 1,200-yard season in 2024 . Despite that production, he has recently lost prominence in the Jaguars’ offense.

ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler reported tha t “several league executives believe Jacksonville will seriously consider trading” the former first-round pick.

These three names represent realistic options for the Chiefs, though the list could grow as the trade deadline approaches. Kansas City knows it needs to improve its offensive arsenal if it wants to remain a title contender and compete for another Super Bowl.
