Stephen Curry's epic reaction after ‘humiliating’ Doncic in a viral play: 'I'm just having fun'
Curry left the Los Angeles Lakers star red-faced at the Chase Center

Stephen Curry was left with his hands on his head after sending Luka Doncic stumbling with a sensational crossover before draining a three-pointer during the Golden State Warriors ' 112-95 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Lakers . The moment arrived midway through the third quarter of Friday's NBA Cup opener, with Curry creating space against Doncic before leaving the Lakers star off balance as the 38-year-old then calmly knocked down the shot.
Producing one of the night's most memorable highlights, Curry admitted afterwards that he had not intended to produce such a dramatic move, explaining that his priority was simply to find room for a shot. He was visibly surprised by the result against the Slovenian, considered one of the best players in the NBA , struggling to contain his reaction before turning to run back on defense. “I was just trying to get a little bit of space,” a bemused Curry said postgame. “I didn’t expect it to get that n***a, but it was one of those [where] you gotta kind of keep your composure.”
Curry makes NBA history against Los Angeles Lakers
Curry ’s highlight came during a remarkable turnaround for Golden State , which recovered from a 25-point deficit to win by 17 as Doncic had initially threatened to run away with the contest. The European scored 21 points in the opening quarter as Los Angeles established a commanding 38-15 advantage but the Warriors responded with an equally dominant second period, matching the Lakers ' 38-15 quarter to reach half-time level. Golden State still trailed 72-63 midway through the third, but a decisive 33-8 run across the next 10 minutes completely changed the contest as a 22-8 burst to close the third quarter featured important contributions from reserves Brandon Williams , Charles Bassey and De'Anthony Melton , who combined for 13 points. Leading 85-80 entering the fourth, the Warriors then scored the first 11 points of the period to extend their advantage to 16, Brandin Podziemski opened the final quarter with a two-pointer and a three-pointer. Curry then supplied the other six points during the run and Los Angeles never recovered, failing to get closer than 12 points as Golden State completed its comeback and earned a third win of the year. Los Angeles committed 22 turnovers, with Austin Reaves responsible for eight, undermining its strong opening period whilst Curry , meanwhile, was simply enjoying another standout night on the court. “I just love this game,” Curry added. “All my mannerisms are just all over the place because I’m just having fun. Those moments, especially at this stage of your career, you’re just appreciative of the ability to keep playing at this level, and I want that joy to continue until I’m done.” Golden State next hosts the Los Angeles Clippers on November 1 at the Chase Center , whilst the Lakers welcome the Toronto Raptors to the Staples Center on Sunday.
