Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected prison release date has been pushed back again, with federal records now showing March 2, 2028, instead of January 21, 2028.

The change comes days after reports detailed an alleged life of unusual privilege for the music mogul inside FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey . The Bureau of Prisons hasn’t said why the projected date changed, citing privacy and security rules when asked about individual inmates.

Combs is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted on two counts of transporting people for prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking following his closely watched 2025 trial. His legal team has appealed the conviction and sentence.

Recent reports have put fresh attention on how Combs has allegedly been living while incarcerated. NBC News spoke with four former inmates who claimed the Bad Boy Records founder has paid other prisoners for a range of services, including cooking, cleaning, laundry and making his bed.

One source also alleged that another inmate provided Chinese-style massages.

Alleged prison perks fuel controversy

Sources told NBC News that Combs allegedly obtained access to contraband cellphones, which he used to browse Instagram and view sexually explicit photographs. He was also reportedly able to use a jailbroken tablet to watch movies and documentaries, including a Netflix series about his own life.

Other allegations involve prescription medication and alcohol. Sources claimed Combs bought Remeron, an antidepressant medication, through the prison’s illicit market and had access to premium liquor, including Hennessy. One former inmate told NBC News that he drank with Combs .

Following the reports, Combs was reportedly moved into a special housing unit, commonly known as solitary confinement. NBC News also reported that he had previously spent time in solitary after an altercation with another inmate.

Combs ’ spokesperson has pushed back against the portrayal of his incarceration, arguing that the media has focused excessively on mundane details of his prison life.

“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” read a statement.

“The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal.”

The Bureau of Prisons has declined to confirm the specific allegations, but officials have acknowledged that contraband, particularly cellphones, drugs and weapons, remains a persistent problem in federal correctional facilities.

The allegations have also raised questions about security at Fort Dix. NBC News reported that contraband has been a concern at the facility. However, officials haven’t publicly linked those specific security issues to Combs or explained whether his reported treatment caused the change in his projected release date.

Although the new date is currently listed in federal records, projected release dates can change based on sentence calculations, credits and other administrative factors.
