The Danish actor spent the night alongside residents of the Ukrainian capital and describes it as “quite hard”

The Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau , known worldwide for playing Jaime Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’ , experienced firsthand one of the most common situations for the citizens of Kyiv since the start of the Russian invasion. During his visit to the Ukrainian capital, the actor had to go down into the metro on the night of October 28 , when the sirens warned of a possible missile and drone attack.
One night on a folding bed
The images, captured by the Reuters news agency , show the actor boarding a train alongside other residents seeking shelter in the underground stations, which serve as bunkers during bombings. While waiting for the alert to end, Coster-Waldau rested on a folding bed , wearing a blue United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) sweatshirt, and took photos with some Ukrainians who recognized him.
The actor himself shared the experience on his Instagram account, where he acknowledged that it had been a difficult night . In addition, he posted a screenshot of the air raid alerts in Kyiv, which according to the image remained at red level for three consecutive days, from October 27 to 29.
A call not to forget Ukraine
Coster-Waldau has been a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador since 2016, a role from which he has raised awareness of causes such as gender equality and climate change. In his message, the actor insisted on the need to continue helping the civilian population and to respect the international rules that all countries have signed. The specific reason for his trip has not been officially detailed, although his presence helps keep Ukraine’s humanitarian situation in the international spotlight.
During his stay, the actor was also seen in a bar in the Podil neighborhood , where a young Ukrainian woman managed to take a photo with him and described him on social media as a very kind and attractive man.
