Whenever he has had the opportunity, Stewart has defined himself as a “socialist.” On Jimmy Kimmel’s show, he opened up and explained the reasons that led him to have this political leaning. The origin, according to his account, came when he was barely five years old, after the Second World War.

Patrick Stewart, on his view of socialism in the United States: “It’s a lot of fun”

“My first act of civil disobedience took place when I was five years old, during the general election held in 1945, after the Second World War. To everyone’s surprise, Winston Churchill lost the election and Clement Attlee came to power. Since then, I have been a man of the left” , he said.

In addition, he shared an anecdote that sparked the audience’s laughter: “This political leaning can sometimes cause one problem or another in the United States, but it has also given me some very amusing moments. There is nothing like sitting down at the table at a dinner in Beverly Hills, surrounded by elegant and distinguished guests, and announcing to them that one is a socialist. The reaction is usually priceless”.
