Older man allegedly slaps teenage political activist during heated confrontation at New Hampshire polling place

An 18-year-old Turning Point Action volunteer was slapped during a confrontation outside the Woodland Heights polling location in Laconia, New Hampshire, on November 3, 2026, during the U.S. midterm elections.
Video shows an older man angrily arguing with the teenager, shouting profanities and raising his middle finger before striking him across the face with the back of his hand. The volunteer did not physically retaliate.
According to police, the confrontation began after the man approached the volunteer's booth and the two engaged in a political discussion. The argument escalated, although the footage does not show the entire exchange.
Police identified the suspect as Stephen Redic, 70, of Laconia. He was arrested on November 4 and charged with misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct. His arraignment is scheduled for December 10.
Local officials and representatives of both major political parties condemned the incident.
