Jerry Jones ' hopes of bringing another established defensive star to the Dallas Cowboys have suffered a setback, with Maxx Crosby reportedly making it clear that he has no intention of leaving the Las Vegas Raiders .

Crosby has been among the most frequently discussed potential trade targets ahead of the November 10 deadline, with his reputation as one of the NFL's premier pass rushers making him an attractive option for teams seeking defensive reinforcements.

However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders haven't entertained trade discussions involving the five-time Pro Bowler this season, while the player himself remains firmly committed to the franchise.

"Maxx absolutely does not want to leave Las Vegas under any circumstances," a league source told ESPN. "His hope, though not in his full control, is that he remains a Raider for life."

The revelation significantly reduces the likelihood of a move to Dallas, although there has been no confirmation that the Cowboys have submitted an official offer or directly approached Las Vegas about a potential deal.

Crosby 's position represents a notable turnaround from the uncertainty surrounding his future during the previous season, when questions about his long-term commitment to Las Vegas intensified.

Those concerns appeared to reach a conclusion during the offseason when the Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round draft picks.

However, the agreement collapsed after Crosby failed his medical examination in Baltimore, leaving him with the organization he had appeared close to departing.

The Raiders now appear determined to retain their defensive leader, despite enduring a difficult stretch of results after opening the 2026 campaign with three consecutive victories.

Las Vegas entered Sunday's meeting with the New York Jets holding a 3-4 record, having suffered four straight defeats following its promising start.

Although another franchise could still make an ambitious offer before the deadline, ESPN reports that neither Crosby nor the Raiders currently has an appetite for reopening negotiations.

What does Crosby's decision mean for Jerry Jones and Dallas?

The situation leaves the Cowboys facing a more complicated path if they intend to make a significant defensive addition before the trade window closes.

Crosby 's ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks would make him a valuable addition to almost any NFL defense, but his preference to remain in Las Vegas creates an obstacle beyond the potential financial and draft-pick costs of a deal.

The Raiders are also focused on maintaining stability elsewhere, with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins expected to retain his starting position despite the team's recent struggles.

Cousins has thrown 16 touchdown passes through seven games, while first overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza remains an option for later in the campaign.

Las Vegas faces a demanding schedule against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns before its Week 13 bye.

The Cowboys must now consider whether alternative defensive targets offer a more realistic opportunity, particularly with the deadline approaching.

While nothing is guaranteed in the NFL trade market, Crosby 's reported stance suggests Jones will need an extraordinary change of circumstances to bring the Raiders star to Dallas.
