Chiefs set to miss out on Tyreek Hill as NFC contender makes aggressive move
Tyreek Hill's expected NFL return may not include a reunion with the Chiefs, as another contender has emerged as the favorite to land the star wide receiver.
The Kansas City Chiefs appeared to be the ideal destination fo r Tyreek Hill ’s return, especially after the wave of injuries that has impacted the team. However, another NFL contender could move ahead of them and land the explosive receiver.
Hill is getting closer to returning to the field after suffering a serious knee injury last season, and his agent said the wide receiver is nearing a comeback. Although Kansas City could still attempt to reunite with one of the most important players in recent franchise history, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report believes another team with a more urgent need could take the lead.
Tyreek Hill could change course
Kay projected that Hill could end up with th e Los Angeles Rams , a team that entered the season as a Super Bowl favorite before falling to 2-3 after an unexpected loss to th e Arizona Cardinals .
Los Angeles’ urgency increased after losing Davante Adams , who suffered a hamstring tear that could keep him sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
“With Adams expected to miss six to 10 weeks while he recovers from a ruptured hamstring, the Rams need to offset the loss of their star wideout with a pickup on the open market, ” Kay wrote. “No free agent can move the needle more than Tyreek Hill.”
Adams had a spectacular start to the season, recording 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns in six games. If Hill can regain part of his best physical form — something his agent Drew Rosenhaus believes is close — he could become a premium replacement option.
“Hill’s résumé makes him an attractive potential replacement, although his recovery and lengthy absence create questions about how quickly he could contribute. If healthy, his speed, route-running ability and elusiveness could help Los Angeles replace some of Adams’ production,” Kay added.
Chiefs could target another star receiver
Although Kansas City needs reinforcements at wide receiver after Tyquan Thornton’s ankle dislocation, some analysts believe the team could pursue a younger and more explosive option than Hill.
ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak suggested that the Chiefs could make a move for Dallas Cowboys wide receive r George Pickens .
Solak believes Pickens could be nearing the end of his time in Dallas once the season concludes , and that the Cowboys could take advantage of his current value to negotiate a trade.
