A difficult week for Patrick Mahomes has brought an encouraging development away from the NFL , with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback celebrating progress on a charitable project he launched alongside his wife, Brittany Mahomes .

Kansas City's perfect start to the 2026 season ended Sunday with a 20-3 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks , leaving Mahomes and his teammates facing questions about their offensive performance.

However, the quarterback subsequently shared an announcement involving the couple's 15 and the Mahomies Foundation , which is working with Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) to improve awareness and safety across Kansas City.

The initiative, known as 15 and FARE, has welcomed its first officially recognized restaurant partner, marking a significant step toward expanding food allergy education among local businesses.

Mahomes highlighted the achievement Tuesday by sharing an Instagram announcement from Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, the first restaurant to receive recognition through the program.

The 15 and FARE initiative aims to improve access to food allergy resources, particularly for families living in underserved communities.

Through the partnership, participating restaurants, food banks and food pantries can receive education designed to help employees understand food allergies and handle ingredients more safely.

Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que announced its involvement following two years of staff training and certification.

"We are really proud today to post this sign up," the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

"Joe's is the first restaurant to be recognized as 15 & Fare approved. Over the past two years our managment staff in our restaurants have become certified in food allergy prep & handling."

The restaurant also encouraged other establishments to participate, indicating that further information about joining the initiative would become available.

The development represents an important milestone for Mahomes and Brittany , who established their foundation in 2019 to support children's health, wellness and community opportunities.

Why the 15 and FARE initiative matters

Food allergies can create significant challenges for families, particularly when eating outside the home or relying on community food assistance.

Cross-contact between ingredients, unclear information about allergens and insufficient staff training can increase the risks faced by people with serious allergies.

The partnership seeks to address those concerns by making education and practical safety guidance more accessible.

Its broader ambition is to establish FARE Neighborhoods throughout Kansas City, reducing disparities in access to reliable information and support.

Mahomes prepares for Chiefs response

While the charitable announcement provided welcome news, Mahomes still faces an important challenge on the field.

The Chiefs entered their Seattle matchup unbeaten but struggled against the Seahawks' defense, with Mahomes completing 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards and an interception.

Kansas City failed to score a touchdown, suffering its first defeat after five consecutive victories.

Mahomes has nevertheless enjoyed a productive start to his 10th NFL season, recording 1,474 passing yards and nine touchdowns through six games.

The Chiefs will attempt to recover when they visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 1, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.

Although Sunday's result brought Kansas City's winning streak to an end, Mahomes ' latest foundation milestone offers a reminder that his impact extends beyond the football field.
