R andi Mahomes is used to cheering for her son from the sidelines. Now she wants to share what she has learned while supporting Patrick Mahomes , from his early years in sports to his rise in the NFL . Her next step is the Ultimate Sports Parent Experience , a family event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, in Miami.

The event is not a recruiting fair, and it is not limited to one sport or to athletes already in college. It is designed for families navigating youth sports, with conversations on performance, college recruiting, name, image and likeness (NIL), and family dynamics. The program also includes panels with athletes, sports experts and parents.

Randi Mahomes turns her experience into support for other families

Before launching the academy, Randi had years of experience organizing events. She has worked as an event planner at Hollytree Country Club since 2005. In 2025, she launched Sports Parent Academy, an online program for parents supporting their children through different stages of sports. “I’m also, just like many of you, a parent trying to navigate the ups and downs of raising an athlete,” she said when introducing it.

Patrick’s path gives her a personal perspective: he played college football at Texas Tech before becoming an NFL star. But Randi presents the academy as a resource for families at different points in a young athlete’s development, not as a formula for reaching the pros. She hosted an in-person event in Lubbock in July; the Miami gathering is the project’s next stop.

College recruiting and NIL can sound like issues reserved for elite athletes, but they can shape the choices families face as a young player considers college sports.

NIL stands for “name, image and likeness.” It refers to deals through which athletes can receive money, products or services in exchange for the use of their identity, such as in a social media post, endorsement or appearance.

The Miami event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at Fontainebleau Miami Beach , with a conversation featuring Randi scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. In her invitation, she said she was excited to spend the afternoon with families who know how much commitment it takes to show up for their children in sports.

This is not Randi’s first move into youth sports: Sports Parent Academy has been underway since 2025. The Miami event is a new opportunity to bring the project to families in person and turn a story many people know through Patrick Mahomes into a conversation for parents starting their own sports journey.
