Angel Reese finds love at the perfect time as she navigates a challenging career moment
After a difficult chapter on the court, Angel Reese is finding comfort off it as love becomes part of her offseason story.
It didn’t take long for Caitlin Clark to appear alongside Taylor Swift at an NFL game, but that kind of high-profile crossover doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Angel Reese . The Atlanta Dream star has made what some may see as a fairly drastic decision: she’s stepping away from the media spotlight for a while, with a clear personal purpose.
After an intense WNBA season that ended with the Atlanta Dream falling in the Finals , Reese plans to use the offseason to focus on recovery and continue developing as a player.
The league star is also putting her podcasts on hold during this period. In a Monday Instagram post, she announced that she is “dedicating this offseason to myself.”
Angel Reese seeks peace and quiet alongside her partner
In the announcement, the Atlanta Dream player revealed that Florida will be her home base. She plans to dedicate much of her time to love, supporting her partner (and fellow professional basketball player) Wendell Carter Jr. of the Orlando Magic .

Reese just completed the best season of her young career, averaging 16.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game . She earned her first Defensive Player of the Year award , was named to the All-WNBA Second Team, and received All-Defensive First Team honors.
Despite her individual success, Reese and the Atlanta Dream fell short of the ultimate goal, losing to the Golden State Valkyries 4-3 in the WNBA Finals .
Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr., who has been in a relationship with the WNBA star since 2025 and has been spotted with her on multiple occasions, offered words of support after the Game 7 loss. “It’s only the beginning,” Carter wrote in the comments of one of Reese’s posts. In another message, he added, “You’re going to get through this.”
Rumors about a possible relationship between Carter and Reese first surfaced in May 2025 , when he attended her 23rd birthday party, according to The New York Times . Months later, in July, Carter fueled further speculation by appearing at the WNBA All-Star Game in a T-shirt featuring Reese’s image.
