Caitlin Clark picks toughest WNBA player to guard and minces no words: “Her size, her physicality, her athleticism”
Clark believes just about everyone would choose the same player that’s the toughest to game plan against.

With the WNBA season in the rearview mirror, Caitlin Clark has taken the opportunity to rest and recuperate ahead of a lengthy season before her fourth season in the league. Clark experienced her best season as a pro in 2026, and the future is extremely bright for her and the Indiana Fever.
Clark is hoping to put together a potential WNBA MVP next season, but it won’t be easy given how much elite talent is scattered throughout the league now. There’s one player who stands head and shoulders above the rest, though, and not even Clark can deny it.
Caitlin Clark says A’ja Wilson is no doubt the toughest WNBA player to play against
During her recent appearance on Kylie Kelce ’s podcast, Clark was asked who the toughest WNBA player to game plan against is. Clark didn’t hesitate before naming A’ja Wilson , and said that Wilson would be practically everyone’s pick, too.
In the W, definitely A’ja. I think that would probably be everyone’s answer. She’s like so difficult. Just her size, her physicality, her athleticism. She can make a midrange jump shot super consistently. She can stretch the floor when she wants to. She can finish around the rim really well… When you let a player like that see the first couple of baskets go in, it’s like, ‘Ugh, it’s gonna be a long night. [She’s] gonna have 30 [points]’. It is what it is.
Clark’s Fever lost to Wilson’s Las Vegas Aces in the playoffs this year. Wilson won her third-consecutive WNBA MVP award, with really no true competition to speak of. She’s a generational player and can arguably finish as the GOAT if she continues on this pace into her 30s.
Wilson is a totally different type of player than Clark. While Wilson wins with size and physicality, Clark is more of a finesse player who relies on shooting. What would be a sight to behold would be to see both of them play together on the same team. Perhaps in the future.
